Through the Creative Heights program, we sponsor the presentation of a documentary film, by former Drexel program participant, Clare McKay. She is a woman of color filmmaker from rural Eastern Oregon.
“Living an American Dream” is a fabulous film (approx. 45 minutes) covering the life of Clare and her 6 siblings. Being adopted from Haiti and being raised on a ranch in Juntura Oregon, this program speaks to young women, cowboys & cowgirls, youth of color, and those who feel limited by their location, gender, or station in society.
After each film, a Q&A with her follows. She always likes to reiterate her message
“It doesn’t matter your skin color, it doesn’t matter your sex, just as long as you’re a good person, you want it bad enough, and are willing to go out and get it. That’s the American dream.”=
